Synopsis

The team tries to discover the secrets and codes of the mansion and find a way to release the spirits there.

Undoubtedly, this movie is mostly saved by the actors. Lockeit Stanfield (Atlanta, Judas and Black Messiah) stars as Ben Mathias. Stanfield gives a strong and emotional performance and is a strong, charismatic hero who is a joy to watch. She is also convincingly played by Rosario Dawson as a single mother and is well complemented by Chase Dillon who portrays her son.
And as mentioned earlier, the cast is rounded out by Danny DeVito and Owen Wilson. Both of them do their best and bring the strange characters to life. These are the two comedians who make this movie fun. On the other hand, Jared Leto as the villain here is a bit of a disappointment. The Oscar-winning actor doesn’t have as much space as he deserves, and so his character as a creepy villain comes across as rather cartoonish and pointless.
Conclusion
All in all, Haunted House presents a fairly good spectacle in its own right. Although it doesn’t bring anything new and is just another remake of the non-original series, it’s overall fun. The successful backgrounds of Haunted House are also great, the location of New Orleans and the accompanying music also create a good mood. A big part of the whole show is its rich cast who understand each other well on screen and form a harmonious team. All in all, it’s not a summer blockbuster, but Haunted Mansion certainly suffices as a good, relaxing movie for the whole family.
